5 Essentials for your Christmas ‘to-do’ list

In the run up to Christmas, many of us will have a ‘to-list’ as long as our arm. With Christmas cards to write, gifts to buy, presents to wrap – it often seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day. But as we head towards the end of the month and start to think about slowing down, we’re here to give you a little prod in the right direction. Here are some tasks that all business owners should think about before finishing for Christmas…

Get your accounts in order

As the saying goes, there’s no time like the present, and no, we don’t mean Christmas present. Give your accountant something to do in the final week of the year – send over all of your paperwork – it’s better on their desk than yours!

Get your invoices out early!

Give yourself an early Christmas gift and get your invoices out early this month. Everyone is in the Christmas spirit at the moment, so catch them whilst their happy – not when they’re grumpily returning to work come the New Year!

Tie off odds and ends

There are always tasks that we don’t like to do; think expenses, filing, reports. By tackling these, or at least some of them, before finishing for Christmas, you’ll have less to do come the start of the New Year. As such, you can create some ‘headspace’ to concentrate on the bigger, better things.

Clear your desk

If you’re having a few days off over Christmas, taking the time to clear your desk before you finish will give you a clean, tidy desk to return to in the New Year. The same applies to emails – if your inbox is as rammed as Santa’s sleigh – take an hour or two to purge! You’ll feel much better afterwards!

Plan your January diary

It’s far too easy to switch off come the last week of December but making plans for the New Year and getting meetings with your team and your clients in the diary will give you impetus come January.

2018 has been another busy buy enjoyable year here at Agenda. We wish you all the best for a Wonderful Christmas and a happy and successful year ahead.
